It's interesting what people focus on when choosing a life partner.

Spoiler alert: It's often not what they think matters that matters most.

Attraction, chemistry and common interests are great, but research shows that shared values, communication and how you handle conflict and challenges together matter far more over time.

I've always found it fascinating that people often put more thought into choosing a business partner than a life partner.

Business partners establish expectations, clarify responsibilities and meet regularly to stay aligned. Yet romantic couples often assume that once they've found the right person, the rest will somehow take care of itself.

It doesn't.

Every relationship needs nurturing. Even the good ones.
